Project background:

POCT is the abbreviation of Point of Care Testing, that is, bedside detection or real-time detection. It has the characteristics of fast and simple, on-site investigation, etc., which can reduce the sample transfer process and shorten the reporting time. The development of POCT is closely related to the local economic level, medical conditions and health awareness. According to statistics, global POCT consumption is mainly concentrated in developed countries and regions such as Europe and the United States, while China's POCT market only accounts for 5% of the global POCT market. From this point of view, due to the late activation of China's POCT market demand, it will take some time for China's POCT industry to catch up with the developed POCT market in Europe and the United States.

A tertiary hospital is a general hospital with nearly 1,000 beds and receives millions of patients every year. The hospital laboratory is one of the core departments of the hospital, which undertakes a large number of inspection tasks. However, with the advancement of medical technology and the increase in patient demand, the laboratory is facing the following challenges:

The number of inspection projects is increasing, involving multiple disciplines, and laboratory personnel need to master more professional knowledge and skills;

The speed of replacement of inspection equipment is accelerated, and the personnel of the inspection department need to constantly learn the operation and maintenance methods of new equipment;

Project purpose:

In order to meet the training needs of the hospital laboratory, Shangpu Consulting has designed a hospital laboratory training program based on POCT technology. The project aims to achieve the following objectives:

Enhance the knowledge and understanding of POCT technology by laboratory personnel, and master the application value and advantages of POCT technology in different clinical scenarios;

Improve the operation and maintenance ability of the inspection department personnel to POCT equipment, and be familiar with the performance characteristics, use methods, precautions and common problems of various POCT equipment;

Cultivate the awareness and ability of the inspection staff to POCT quality management, follow the national and industry standards, establish and improve the POCT quality management system;

Promote the communication and collaboration between laboratory staff and clinicians, timely, accurate and effective delivery of POCT results, and provide support for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Research object:

In order to ensure the pertinence and effectiveness of the training program, Shangpu Consulting Company has carried out detailed research work before the formal training. The survey includes the following two categories:

Hospital laboratory personnel: including laboratory director, deputy director, supervisor, technician, etc., a total of 50 people, accounting for 80% of the total number of laboratory;

Clinicians: including directors, deputy directors, attending physicians, residents, etc. of various departments such as internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, emergency department, etc., totaling 100, accounting for 20% of the total number of clinicians.

Current status of POCT technology: Introduce the characteristics, classification, development history and frontier dynamics of POCT technology, and sort out the application value and advantages of POCT technology in different clinical scenarios;

Operation and maintenance of POCT equipment: for POCT equipment commonly used in hospital laboratory, such as blood glucose meter, blood gas survey instrument, myocardial marker detector, etc., practical exercises are carried out to explain the performance characteristics, usage methods, precautions and common problems of the equipment, so as to improve the equipment operation and maintenance capabilities;

POCT quality management: according to national and industry standards, establish and improve POCT quality management system, including quality control, quality assurance, quality evaluation and quality improvement, and cultivate quality management awareness and ability;

POCT result delivery and collaboration: through case research and role-playing, simulate the actual scenario of POCT result delivery and collaboration, explain communication skills and collaboration principles, and promote effective communication and collaboration between laboratory personnel and clinicians.
